Story rewrite. If a thing's worth doing...

Progress report. I sent off a draft of the story to my US agent a couple of weeks ago. I heard back from them on friday last and they were good enough to provide a full and frank feedback on the work so far. I have to admit I was knocked for six when I first read their comments but after sitting back and mulling things over I can see where they are coming from. So it's back to the nuts and bolts of the story to sort things out with a rewrite. I never intended for the story and artwork to be set in stone at this early stage, and I want to give this my best shot before I try to hawk my wares! If nothing else it's a great learning experience...and we all have to start somewhere. Expect news as it happens. For now here's the latest (unfinished) storyboard before I put on the brakes.

That's too bad. I thought that the stuff you've been posting was coming along nicely. What did he say was wrong with what you had?

Sorry to read that you've had some negative feedback, but well done for not taking it personally, and being objective. Never give up! Peter Jackson was knocked back by every studio in Hollywood until his last pitch, which happened to be New Line, Sly Stallone was knocked back again and again before he could find someone to put some money forward to make Rocky, The Beatles... you get the idea. Another publisher might have a different opinion. You've certainly got fans here in web land.

Sorry to hear about the negative feedback mate, but like Phoole says above, well done for being objective about it and using it as a platform to go forward.

Personally I think the developmental artwork is great, I cant give my opinion on the story as Ive only seen the snippets posted so far, but from what I have seen - I like; the setting and characters are definitley something that a great story could be based around.

So stay positive and build on the strong work you have already done.

Look forward to seeing more.

Hi.
Hows things going Matt?
Not seen you on the blog scene in a while.

Just realised that this double spread will have a real nice balance and symmetry - with 2 brightly lit windows, Magnus in roughly the same place on both pages maybe with his face lit by the window on both, the dream-bubble thing and the fridge back-to-back. Nice composition.
