colourful dozer

Here's my colour plan for the painting. I tried this planning ahead process on my last birthday painting commission and it really help me out with sequencing which colours to paint in which order. The disadvantage / advantage of course is that you have a constant reminder of what colour you are aiming for. Mixing that paint colour and making sure it dries how you intend is another matter! For now pixels are familiar territory and I'm happy with how thing are looking.

Gorgeous design, and the colours are looking ace! Will be really interesting to compare the painted version to the digital one when it's all done. Don't you wish you could "command + Z" when you get out the actual paints?!! :D

The design looks great, but try not to be too worried about matching the paint to the pixels. I'm sure you'll make it look fantastic if you let go and let the paints guide you.

Aye, it's a great piece - good luck with the painted version (you won't need it) - as Phil says, don't stress about matching the digital - they are different entities!

Yeah, it's a really nice colour scheme, but when shifting to a different media, I reckon just keeping the relationships between the colours within the picture will is what matters.
Don't worry about the colours matching between pictures, as long as the cohesion between the colours and mood etc is there, the colours could be totally different to in the previous picture, but the new picture will work.
You've got a very good base to start from there, though :)

I find that no matter how much I plan a painting out, I always end up straying away from my original colors! This looks fantastic, Matt-beautiful colors, wonderful shapes and that unmistakable Dawson touch! Can't wait to see the finish.

Congrats on the book as well, it looks amazing. You must be very proud.
